Use these tips to up your teaching game and create a more valuable distance learning experience. In this video, I will show you three tips for turning regular PDF files into digital resources your students can use and interact with on Google Classroom along with step-by-step examples. Here are my tips with step by step examples! What’s in the video? I happen to use Google Classroom, but you can adapt these tricks to whatever platform you have access to. Over the last several years, I’ve learned some do’s and dont’s about how to take a plain old, normal PDF file and turn it into something your students can use digitally in an interactive way. I’ve been fortunate to have Chromebooks in my classroom for the past three years and they have been total gamechangers!

Close focusing lens – A macro lens is idea however extension tubes will cancer almost any lens.

DSLR camera – This can be an entry level.

White piece of plastic – a section from a white plastic bag is ideal.

A Piece of glass – you can find this in a picture frame.

(Even a computer screen will do it if you lie it on its back)

Tablet or Smart Phone – Basically any screen that is larger than a slide or single 35mm frame.

I tried a number of techniques and discovered that using objects from around the house gives some pretty awesome results. The idea of using a DSLR to scan your negatives has been around for some time and there are a lot of tutorials on this however I found many of them to be either clumsy, not explained will or the results we less than great. In this tutorial I show you how you can scan your 35mm negatives or slides using a DSLR camera and a few things you can find around the house.
